Kearney business shows appreciation for law enforcement - KSNB Local 4
KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - Berkshire Hathaway and the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce joined forces on Wednesday to show their appreciation for local law enforcement with a barbecue luncheon.
It all comes during law enforcement appreciation week and is only one event in a series of events aimed at showing support for the law enforcement agencies that serve Kearney.
Wendy Kreis, a realtor with Berkshire Hathaway, said its important for her and her company to show support for the hard workers of the different agencies.
“They are always just there for us,” Kreis said. “We have had fires on properties and the fire department is always gracious to work with us, so it’s just for us to continue that partnership on a really personal level instead of always on business. We’re seeing each other in the dark or on the weekends, so this is just a chance to enjoy each other on a more informal level.”
Buffalo County Sheriff Neil Miller said he liked the personal touch and getting the opportunity to talk with the community.
“We are just very pleased that they’re doing this for us, taking the time to have lunch up here with our people is a great thing,” Miller said. “It just gives us a chance to get out into the community and talk with people,”
The week’s festivities are not over, as Law Enforcement Appreciation Night is set to kickoff at 4 p.m. Thursday.
