Kentucky governor signs into law bill freezing car tax rates at 2021 level - WLKY Louisville
FRANKFORT, Ky. —
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear signed into law a bill that freeze vehicle tax rates, providing some additional relief to people being impacted by rising costs.
The governor signed the bill into law Thursday during his Team Kentucky update. That comes after he took executive action to halt the rising vehicle tax rates, a move he made until lawmakers could pass the legislation.
Under the new state law, car owners will pay the same amount as they did last year. Then in the future, the state will use the average trade-in value — not the clean trade-in value — to assess a vehicle's worth for tax purposes.
If you've already paid your tax bill, you should get a refund.
