Large law enforcement presence responds to incident in Salinas - KSBW Monterey

SALINAS, Calif. —
A large law enforcement presence responded to an unknown incident on East Market near Griffin Street Friday night around 11 p.m.
Action News 8 crews were on scene shortly after the incident and say they saw multiple agencies on scene. Law enforcement from Santa Cruz County Sheriff, Monterey County Sheriff, Scotts Valley police, Marina police, Monterey police, Seaside police were all spotted by KSBW 8 crews.
Investigators with the Monterey County District Attorney's office arrived at the scene on Market. One official with Salinas police told Action News 8 that it was a "pretty serious situation" and that it is being investigated thoroughly.
A separate, large law enforcement presence was also seen at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, and one entrance of the hospital was blocked off by a patrol car.
While KSBW has not confirmed the reason for the multiagency law enforcement presence, several police officers on the Central Coast changed their Facebook profile photos to the Salinas police badge with a single black ribbon across it, which represents the mourning of an active officer killed in the line of duty.
A large portion of Griffin Street was still blocked off by police barricades Saturday morning as the investigation continued.
This is a developing story and will be updated as soon as new information becomes available.
