The Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) has launched a safety operation where law enforcement agencies will target speeding on roadways.

The "Slow Down Tennessee" campaign launched on Friday and will continue through April 29. In a statement release on the operation, Col. Matt Perry with the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) says "The THP is combatting a drastic escalation in speeding that has led directly to an increase in traffic fatalities."

Drivers are also called on to report dangerous driving behaviors by dialing *THP (*847) to have the nearest THP district respond.

According to data recorded by the Tennessee Integrated Traffic Analysis Network (TITAN), from 2020-2022 there were over 28,000 traffic crashes in the state involving speeding, racing, reckless driving, or aggressive driving.
