Law enforcement, church community talk about breaking down barriers - WHIO

DAYTON — On Thursday night, the church community in Dayton met with law enforcement to try and break down barriers.
The Dayton Ministers United for Social Change hosted a Meet the Chiefs conversation at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church.
People heard from Dayton Police Chief Kamran Afzal, Montgomery County Sheriff Rob Streck and Sinclair Community College Police Chief Tom Thompson.
The three talked about their careers and they also took questions from the audience. The conversation at the meeting tonight was about rebuilding trust between law enforcement and the public.
“I think when we see each other as human, hear each other as human, then we can work together,” said Renard Allen, Senior Pastor at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church.
Dayton Ministers for Social Change has been holding events like this since the death of George Floyd.
