MID-MICHIGAN, Mich. (WJRT) - Law Enforcement across mid-Michigan is helping schools to reassess those plans in the wake of the tragedy at Oxford High school.

Genesee County Sheriff, Chris Swanson, says after the Oakland County school's deadly shooting-- they are revisiting the plans again and working with schools to find ways to improve them.

There are multiple plans in place that encompass multiple agencies, including law enforcement.

"It's given to all the agencies, and school locations. Maps of all the grounds, these are also uploaded to all in car computers," said Sheriff Swanson.

The document is revisited every few years, but they are taking a close look to see if there needs to be any improvements made.

"Addressing the injured. Getting the media, using your professional platform to inform the people that are panicked. All of that is part of the plan," said Swanson. "That involves every player. The teachers, the students. How to freeze, flight or flee. We do that through years of development."

Swanson says many schools will also be taking extra training to ensure they're prepared for anything.

"We've consistently gone over our plans and we will still do that-- we don't need another tragedy to prove that," said Swanson. "It's good business to always do these drills, I don't want to have another real-life example. But how do you not look at that and as yourself, ' what are we doing, are we doing enough and what more do I do?' Parents, students, teachers, our community-- depend on us to be at our very best."

Sheriff Swanson says he will be working with schools and law enforcement to make sure everyone is prepared to execute the plan if necessary.
