Law enforcement looking for man who fled from officers - NTV

CURTIS, Neb. — Law enforcement is attempting to locate a man who fled a traffic stop near the Frontier/Dawson County line Sunday night.

According to the Frontier County Sheriff’s Office, authorities are attempting to locate Austin Simkins.

The sheriff’s office said that around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, a deputy attempted to assist a stranded motorist, Simkins, on Highway 23 near Road 750. When the deputy asked Simkins for his name, he allegedly provided a false name and later fled on foot into an open field.

Around 10 p.m. Sunday, a rural Dawson County resident reported their vehicle stolen near the area of the original incident. Around 11:30 p.m., a Dawson County Sheriff’s deputy located Simkins and the stolen vehicle in Gothenburg, but he later fled on foot.

After approximately two hours, the search for Simkins was called off.
