Law enforcement mourns loss of Fairbank Police Chief after battle with cancer - KGAN TV

FAIRBANK, Iowa — Iowa's News Now has learned that Fairbank Police Chief Mike Everding has passed away after a battle with cancer. The first public announcement was made on the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office's Facebook page Saturday afternoon.
Everding began his career in law enforcement in 2004 when he joined the Linn County Sheriff's Office as a Deputy Sheriff. He became a full-time Deputy Sheriff the following year in Fayette County, where he specialized in accident reconstruction and other investigative tactics, In 2017, Everding joined the Iowa DNR as a Water Patrol Officer. Finally, in July of 2020, he became Chief of Police in Fairbank.
