Job Description

Our FWC academy in Havana, FL offers one of the best training facilities, with an emphasis on self-sufficiency. During the training, the recruit gets to practice vessel operating, alligator handling, wildlife identification, man tracking, and ATV usage, to name a few. Upon release to field patrol, one day an officer can be on a 26’ motorboat in the Atlantic Ocean and the next day on an airboat in the Everglades.

The officer also has the ability to patrol the entire county as well as attend events throughout the state so the position offers a complete spectrum of variety. The schedule is incredibly flexible around the state as well. Additionally, FWC officers do not have the standard law enforcement calls for service, such as domestics and instead can focus on resource and environmental protection, boating and waterways safety management, and many other areas.

Our agency is focused on diverse individuals who are passionate about recreation in Florida and who love the state’s resources and wish to preserve and protect them. FWC can take these people out of the outdoors and in turn, put them in their patrol vessels and vehicles. We are looking for people like members of Outdoor Afro who are interested in hiking, camping fishing, hunting, or boating. Many people look at these activities as hobbies but do not recognize the fact that a possible career exists.
