MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — Leaders with the Coastal Carolina Shields Organization honored three officers and a Horry County prosecutor Tuesday for their role in solving a murder case in 2016
Former Riverside long island police officer and 51-year-old Timothy Buckley was found dead in a wooded area off Rodeo Dr. near Tanger Outlets on Nov. 10, 2016.
Five years later his family received closure and those who made it possible were honored Tuesday.

"We have angels on our shoulder for which we will always be grateful," said Buckley's brother, John.
Horry county detectives Greg Lent, David Dudley, Myrtle Beach Lieutenant Tony Allen, and Prosecutor Nancy Livesay were recognized for officially closing Buckley's case last year.
Allowing the family to start a new chapter.
"That was the best feeling being to deliver some type of closure and satisfaction to the family as best as we can," said Dudley.
"Helping definitely comes into it but being able to act as a deterrent or in our cases being able to hunt those who go out and do evil there's no doubt we have been blessed by got to be given this mission," said Lent.
While the Buckley family lost a brother, father, and friend, they said his spirit will be at peace knowing those responsible were brought to justice.
"We're able to continue our lives as normal as possible so thank you guys so much, said Buckley's, Kaitlin Huck.
"It's clear the thin blue line live in the Carolinas," said Buckley.

John Buckley quoted Saint Francis of Assisi saying where there is darkness bring light and after Tuesday's ceremony he said their family is no longer in darkness.
Johnathan Hillary is serving a live sentence without parole and Bernithia Young is serving a lengthy sentence in connection to Buckley's death.
