Law enforcement responding to shooting scene near Peach Creek Estates - KBTX

BRAZOS COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) - Law enforcement agencies remain on the scene of a shooting investigation Thursday evening in a rural area of south Brazos County.

It’s still unclear how many have been injured or if anyone is in custody but neighbors in the area tell KBTX they heard screams and several shots fired earlier in the afternoon.

The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office confirms there is an active investigation of an incident that occurred this afternoon on Stokes Circle near Pipeline Road.

KBTX learned of the incident just before 4:00 p.m. Just before 5:00 p.m. News 3′s Morgan Riddell said the scene remains active and tactical units from other nearby agencies were arriving on the scene. The Texas Department of Public Safety is also on location.

At 6:30 p.m., a helicopter was seen circling the area and a Brazos County Sheriff’s Office mobile command unit arrived on the scene.

The area where the activity is happening is near Peach Creek Cutoff between the new Southern Pointe community and Peach Creek Road.
