Law enforcement responds to threat at Stoney Creek High School; credibility of threat in doubt - The Oakland Press

This afternoon a note containing “disturbing language” was reportedly discovered in a bathroom at Stoney Creek High School in Rochester Hills.
Undersheriff Mike McCabe said deputies were alerted to the threat by school officials.
“At this time we do not believe that this is a credible threat,” McCabe said. “However, out of an abundance of caution, deputies are on scene investigating and school officials are following their protocols to ensure the safety of students and faculty members.”
Lori Grein, executive director of strategic communications for Rochester Community Schools, said district families were notified of the situation at 12:42 p.m. today.
Robert Shaner, superintendent of the district, said both Stoney Creek High School and Hart Middle School were placed in a partial lockdown, where no one could enter or leave the building.
“All students and staff are safe; there is no cause for alarm at this time,” Shaner said in district correspondence. “The safety and security of our students and staff is always our priority, and we take all perceived threats very seriously. All members of our school community should experience an environment where they are safe, valued and respected.
“We want to assure our school community that we are acting with urgency and intention to continue to investigate this situation. Appropriate corrective actions will be taken, and those responsible will be held accountable.”
Grein added that students would not be released from the aforementioned buildings until local law enforcement says it is OK to do so.
McCabe reiterated what Sheriff Michael Bouchard said repeatedly after last week’s shooting at Oxford High School that anyone that makes such threats “will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Anyone with information regarding the note found at Stoney Creek today is asked to contact the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office immediately at (248) 858-4911.
