Law Enforcement Seize Conor McGregor And His Bentley Continental GT - HotCars
According to a report from The Independent, the Irish police seized UFC star Connor McGregor's Bentley Continental GT in a dangerous driving incident.
Per the report, the arrest happened while McGregor was driving to the gym. Police observed many traffic violations, which led to his arrest. It appears that the dangerous driving was not induced by any substances, as McGregor passed all drug and alcohol tests once at the police station.
An Easy Speedster
While we certainly don't condone dangerous driving in any form, it is easy to see why McGregor got this charge. At the end of the day, he was behind the wheel of a Bentley Continental GT — a W12-powered monster that produces 650 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. Zero-sixty happens in 3.7 seconds, and it will eventually reach 208 mph.
The Cost
Nonetheless, the dangerous driving charges did force McGregor to bail himself out of jail. According to the report, dangerous driving in Ireland has a maximum punishment of $5,500 dollars and/or 6 months in jail.
In a statement to the Irish Independent, McGregor's spokesperson had this to say about the incident:
“Mr McGregor was driving to the gym when he was stopped by gardaí for alleged road traffic violations. He passed the drug and alcohol tests taken at the station.”
This isn't McGregor's first tangle with the gardaí, the Irish police. In 2017, he received a $440 fine at Blanchardstown district court for speeding. Ironically, that is the same court where McGregor will appear later this month.
As for the Bentley, you'll be happy to hear that the police returned it to McGregor shortly after the dilemma. Whatever that fine may have been, it certainly won't have busted McGregor's bank account. He is notorious for his flamboyant car collection, which includes multiple supercars, including a McLaren 650S and a Lamborghini Aventador.
Being the highest-paid athlete of 2021, McGregor can afford such cars — and his bail, for enjoying his Bentley a little too much.
