Law enforcers say deputy hurt in scuffle with suspect in domestic dispute - Rome Sentinel

WESTMORELAND — A 55-year-old man is accused of injuring a sheriff’s deputy during a fight on Dix Road in Westmoreland late Wednesday night, according to officials with the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said Lloyd Rockhill, of Westmoreland, was involved in a domestic dispute at his residence on Dix Road at about 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Deputies responded and attempted to take Rockhill into custody, at which point authorities said Rockhill started to fight with them, according to the law enforcers.

During the scuffle, one of the sheriff’s deputies suffered an injury to his hand and he was treated at a local hospital, authorities stated.

Rockhill is charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony, second-degree harassment, third-degree menacing, second-degree obstruction of a governmental administration and resisting arrest, deputies said.

He is scheduled to appear in Westmoreland Town Court to answer the charges, the law enforcers added.
