Law enforcers seek suspects in theft from insurance business - Rome Sentinel

UTICA — Two men are wanted for robbing an insurance business on Mohawk Street in Utica Thursday afternoon, according to the Utica Police Department.

No arrests have been made so far, authorities stated.

Police said the two male suspects entered the business in the 1000 block of Mohawk Street at about 4 p.m. and started speaking with the proprietor about insurance and possibly getting coverage. The conversation lasted several minutes, police said, and then all three men stood to leave when the conversation ended.

At that point, one of the suspects pulled out a can of pepper spray and blasted the victim in the face, police said. The two suspects then punched the insurance salesman several times until he fell to the ground.

The suspects ransacked the victim's desk and they stole a quantity of cash from the business, police said. They fled in an unknown direction.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Division at 315-223-3510. Anonymous tips can also be sent to the website www.MohawkValleyCrimeStoppers.com or by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-866-730-8477.

Police are also asking that any resident or business along Mohawk Street that has a Ring camera or a surveillance camera to check their footage from the 3 to 5 p.m. time frame for any sign of the suspects.
