Law experts speak on Rodgers, Packers COVID-19 protocol - Fox11online.com

GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- The waiting game continues for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers as they wait to find out what the NFL finds as it looks to see if the organization has broken COVID-19 protocols for unvaccinated players.
Andrew Brandt is the executive director of sports law at Villanova, and worked for the Packers from 1999 to 2008.
“It’s hard to know how the league is going to react,” said Brandt.
He adds the only precedent the league has set for violating COVID-19 protocols happened last year, when former Raiders Head Coach Jon Gruden and Saints Head Coach Sean Payton were each fined $100,000.
And their teams also faced a fine of $250,000.

Brandt doesn’t think that the Packers are the only ones that could be investigated.
“I would think with the Packers, maybe with the Vikings, maybe with other teams," said Brandt. "There’s gonna be a review from the NFL on what protocols were violated and how much, and maybe it’s just a slap on the wrist for all of these teams not just the Packers, with harsh words going forward that there would be increased penalties.”
But he also says the league will be asking a very specific question, looking at how Rodgers addressed the media.
“I mean I think the whole thing that we’re dancing around here is that the Packers knew Aaron was unvaccinated, Aaron knew, the media relations people knew and they knew the protocol in the media room," said Brandt. " So it seems to me that there was a disregard for that specific protocol and then the question that the league would ask is why.”
And Matt Mitten, a professor of Law at Marquette University, says the NFL could look at the 31 other teams in the league more closely.
“I would think the league is likely to insist on some monitoring going forward and then they would send out some sort of memo to all the clubs," said Mitten. "Saying here’s what we expect you to do and it could be saying this is what applies to everyone, all the clubs.”
Adding he thinks the league, and Rodgers himself, want this matter resolved sooner rather than later.
