ANN ARBOR, MI -- Schiff Hardin LLP, a national law firm with an Ann Arbor location, will be merging with Arent Fox LLP to create ArentFox Schiff, the companies announced.

ArentFox Schiff will house more than 600 lawyers and policy professionals and specialize in bankruptcy and financial reconstruction, complex litigation, government relations, intellectual property, international trade and investment, private clients and general regulatory counseling.

The merger will officially take place on March 1, 2022.

Anthony Lupo, the chair of Arent Fox, said the merger doubles the firm’s corporate, finance and litigation capabilities.

“We are merging at a time when both firms are having record-breaking years in terms of production and profitability,” Lupo said in a statement announcing the merger. “Schiff Hardin’s excellent reputation is a reflection of their legal talent, storied history, and a client-first approach.”

Joseph Krasovec III, a managing partner at Schiff Harden, echoed the sentiment.

“By joining forces with Arent Fox, our clients will benefit from the collective talents and resources of two market-leading firms,” Krasovec said in a statement. “Both firms value creativity and client service excellence. Going forward, ArentFox Schiff will prioritize investing in legal talent and innovation that enables us to continue to be an industry leader in gateway U.S. markets.”

Arent Fox is based in Washington, D.C., Boston, San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles, while Schiff Hardin has offices in Ann Arbor, Chicago, Lake Forest, New York, Newport Beach, San Francisco and Washington D.C.
