Residents are invited to join online at 7 p.m. that day to hear community members discuss how to create a safer community for woman and all citizens through respect and kindness.

High school students who entered either a poem or essay in a Rising project will be on hand to share their works. Round Lake High School’s Ghostlight Theater will “share their interpretation of the place that respect, grace and kindness have in ending violence against women,” the Rising Group said.

“This will be an amazing program that highlights the different ways that we can come together as a community to support and raise up those survivors affected by violence,” he said.

Lake County Rising is part of the One Billion Rising global movement. It is sponsored by the Lake County state’s attorney’s office in partnership with Nicasa Behavioral Health Services, the College of Lake County’s Women’s Outreach and Programs, Mano a Mano Family Resource Center, A Safe Place, ZCenter, and YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago.

Antioch police are still seeking the public’s help in the search for Tommy Howe, the young man who had been missing since he was involved in an auto accident on Jan. 22.

Howe, 24, was last seen as he walked away from the two-car crash on I-94 near Libertyville, headed toward the nearby Old School Forest Preserve.

His parents told the NewsNation network that they think their son may have been disoriented. Howe, who had been living in Chicago, was headed toward his parents’ Antioch home. He had also told his parents that he had been feeling stress about working from his apartment during the pandemic, according to the NewsNation report.

Authorities found his work cellphone at Old School, but do not have any fresh leads. Anyone with information is urged to call APD at (847) 270-9111.

Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg announced that his office will be again be awarding $1,000 to a deserving county student enrolled at an institution of higher learning.

Applicants must be state residents, and enrolled at an Illinois school as a full-time student (not including summer sessions) during the 2022-2023 school year.

“I enjoy every opportunity to give back to the community. I look forward to being able to award a Lake County student $1,000.00, which can be used to offset some of the expenses of schooling,” Idleburg said.

Applicants must complete a form that is available at the sheriff’s office or at his link: https://go.usa.gov/xtk6b. They must also answer an essay question. Documents are due by March 15.
