BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Controversy over squeegee workers at downtown intersection in Baltimore continues. City leaders looking into how to better police these intersections.

“In looking at what’s happened recently it’s absolutely horrendous, “ said Former Chief of Police in Martinsburg, West Virginia and Law Enforcement Expert, Maury Richards.

On Wednesday, October 27th, officers were called to President Street, where they found a 50-year old woman bleeding behind the wheel of her vehicle.

According to officers, she was struck in the face by a squeegee worker.

Last week, another driver, stopped at the same intersection, and was struck in the face by a squeegee.

“This problem with these squeegee kids is really part of a much bigger problem,” said Richards, adding, “you have a prosecutor who won’t even prosecute open air drug markets, possession with the intent to distribute, public prostitution, urination on people’s houses.”

Richards says when you don’t have a prosecutor going after that it’s hard to expect action being taken against the squeegee workers.

He believes that the program in Baltimore not holding people accountable and letting crime happen without consequences needs to be stopped if the situation in the city is going to get better.
