The wife of a murdered celebrity submits to a police interrogation. No attorney. Another suspect comes in, equally lawyer-less, and is assured by a detective that if she just tells him what happened, she can go home. No charges. No prosecution. (“You have my word.”) She starts chattering like a magpie.

Haven’t these people ever watched “Law & Order”?
