What You Need to Know

  • According to newly-released ABA data, total law school enrollment for fall 2021 is 138,545, an increase of 2,733 (2%) over 2020.
  • Meanwhile, law schools reported that 42,718 first-year students began studies in the fall of 2021 (plus the preceding winter/spring/summer terms for schools with multiple start dates), an increase of 4,516 (11.8%) 1L students from the 2020 reporting cycle.
  • But law school admissions consultant Mike Spivey said he's concerned the job market won't grow fast enough to match the inflation in enrollment.
