Law Students Acting Badly - National Review

American law schools have significant percentages of “woke” students who just love to throw their weight around, knowing that they can get away with just about anything.

The current fight at Georgetown, with irate students demanding that Ilya Shapiro be dumped because he expressed the view that Supreme Court nominees shouldn’t be chosen because they check off various diversity boxes, is revealing.

So is a somewhat older flap at Emory, where the students who edit the law journal decided to reject a submission from Professor Lawrence Alexander on the ground that his language was “hurtful” and “divisive.” His writing was standard law-journal stuff, but because his stance on racial preferences got the editors hot and bothered, they insisted that he completely rewrite the article to suit them. He declined to do so.

Attorney Louis Bonham has been covering this matter carefully and his latest essay on Minding the Campus surveys all that has transpired.

What I find especially savory about Bonham’s essay is the way he makes mincemeat of two people who sought to defend the students.
