Best response to climate change is adaptation
We need a new plan to address climate change and energy transition. The current approach, which relies on rapidly reducing CO2 emissions, isn’t working. Dr. Judith Curry, former head of Climate Science at Georgia Tech, has recently proposed an alternative plan which she terms “Plan B” at judithcurry.com.
Although Dr. Curry’s proposal is longer and more comprehensive, I was struck by several similarities in it to something I wrote in the Times-Call almost a year and a half ago, on Oct. 28, 2020. I had also concluded that what is being done now isn’t working.
Dr. Curry says, “In spite of the numerous UN treaties and agreements … the atmospheric CO2 concentration relentlessly continues to increase. By 2050, global emissions will be dominated by whatever China and India have done, or have failed to do.” I wrote that since CO2 emission reduction efforts began about 30 years ago, not only have global energy-related CO2 emissions not been reduced, they have increased by 75%. And, the EIA projects more increases over the next 30 years.
Dr. Curry’s plan emphasizes reducing our vulnerability to extreme weather and climate events. I noted that the IPCC calls that adaptation, and I also advocated prioritizing that approach. Dr. Curry indicates we must keep our society prosperous in order to be able to adapt to climate change and notes the difficulties in doing that while trying to rapidly transition to wind and solar energy. I made similar points.
Which brings me to the main point of this letter, if a prominent climate scientist and an old retired engineer can both see these rather obvious realities, why can’t our political leaders see them? Or, maybe they just do not want to.

Transgender activism is insidious, misogynistic
Also in recent transgender news:
Cheating male swimmer Lia (née William) Thomas stole first place from rightful female winner, Emma Weyant, at the NCAA All-American competition. He towered over his competitors on the podium, a massive male body indistinguishable from any other, and equally imbued with all the biological sporting advantages men enjoy. In men’s sports he ranked No. 462, and now as a “woman” he is a champion.
The Australian Breastfeeding Association removed Jasmine Sussex as a volunteer from for saying men could not breastfeed.
A man in India was allowed to upset an election reserved for female candidates by declaring himself a woman and contesting the election. He went on to win the election, stealing a seat from a qualified female candidate.
The German Green Party women’s conference featured a man pretending to be a woman as its star “female” speaker.
A transgender prostitution organization in Germany is targeting Ukrainian refugee women to try to recruit them into the oldest form of misogynist oppression.
Do you see the pattern?
This is arguably an insidious political move on the part of misogynist males to roll back women’s basic human rights and return us to the dark ages. If you would like to help put a stop to this, visit the Women’s Bill of Rights (iwv.org/campaign/womens-bill-of-rights) and the Women’s Declaration International (womensdeclarationusa.com) and sign on with your support.

Appropriate headline over abortion law celebration photo
Tuesday’s Times-Camera had an interesting headline with supposedly unrelated picture underneath it. The headline decries the deaths of hundreds. The picture shows our proud Papa Polis smiling and celebrating the death of hundreds along with many helping him celebrate.
What a wonderful world we live in, and all those in the picture should be very pleased with themselves. They even went so far in their bill to make sure they defined exactly what it is OK to kill. The article stated they worked extremely hard on making sure they could kill whatever they want when they want. Convenience should have no boundaries. Next they’ll put it in the state Constitution.
At least this time the caption above the picture was honest enough to call the law what it is and not retch it out as some sort of health law. If this is OK, then why are Democrats so critical of Chivington? He probably killed fewer people.
