Shootings on Chattanooga’s Westside claimed at least four lives and left several others injured over the weekend.

Monday night, a local activist group was joined by law enforcement and the community, for an action walk to offer support for neighbors who knew some of the victims.

On Saturday, Chattanooga Police said seven people were shot on Grove Street and two of the victims died.

"You never get used to it," P.E.A.K. President LaDarius Price said.

Chattanooga Police Department Sergeant Jason Holmes said it hits home. His nephew, who was about to graduate high school, was shot in 2012.

"When I got that phone, I didn't believe it was true, I work cases like this, this cannot be my loved one, this can not be on my doorstep," Chattanooga Police Department Sergeant Jason Holmes said.

"Just like those individuals out there right now, I wanted revenge," Sergeant Holmes said.

Sergeant Holmes said that's not the way to be, though.

"Instead of having that revenge on my mind to take somebody, I could save somebody," Holmes said.

That's what he aims to do. He, the activist group P.E.A.K., or Placing Emphasis Around Kids, and community members walked from the Youth and Family Development Center to the crime scene to talk with neighbors and offer support.

"Once you come out and you educate them about those things, they know that those resources are available, it makes it easier and a lot of times it curve and cut down on things like what we seen this weekend," Price said.

P.E.A.K. has several ways you can get involved to help kids and bring them hope.
