Local Law Enforcement Provide Tips for a Safe Halloween - TAPinto.net
HAMILTON - ROBBINSVILLE, NJ -- The countdown to Halloween 2021 is on, and area law enforcement officials arereminding families how to safely enjoy the holiday.
Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler said federal estimates show that children are much more likely to be struck by a motor vehicle on Halloween than on any other date of the year. He urged drivers to reduce their speed in residential areas to five miles per hour under the speed limit.
"On Halloween night, make it scary for the right reasons. Watch out for trick-or-treaters running from house to house in the darkness. Trick-or-treaters sometimes get overexcited and often forget about safety," said Kemler.
"Kids need to wear reflective clothing, carry a flashlight, glow stick, or a reflective bag," added Kemler.
In Robbinsville, members of the Robbinsville Township Police Department (RTPD) will be around town as usual handing out glow sticks and glow rings to trick-or-treaters to keep them safe along their way.
The Hamilton Township Police Division (HTPD) suggested that trick-or-treaters bring flashlights and glow sticks to be seen when the sun goes down. They suggested that trick-or-treaters, who should stay in groups, be sure to stay on sidewalks, look both ways when crossing streets, and avoid dark houses.
Most importantly, enjoy the day with friends and family and have a Spook-tacular Halloween!
