Local Law would establish salaries for Wyoming County officials - The Daily News Online

WARSAW — A local law establishing salaries and providing extra compensation for some Wyoming County officials was proposed Tuesday by the Board of Supervisors.

A public hearing will be conducted 2:30 p.m. March 8 in the supervisors chambers at the county Government Center on 143 North Main St.

The local law will be subject to permissive referendum. That means it could be put to a public vote if a certain percentage of the public were to submit enough signatures requesting it.

The local law would set annual salaries including:

■ The county treasurer salary would be increased by $2,000 to $82,000.

■ The sheriff salary would be increased by $5,183 to $108,849.

■ Salaries for the Democratic and Republican election commissioner would each be increased 39 cents to $16,768 annually.

■ The salary for the Board of Supervisors clerk would increase $1,807 to $74,068.

■ The highway superintendent salary would increase $2,395 to $98,191.

■ The public defender salary would increase $1,570 to $64,383.

■ The commissioner of public health salary would increase $2,099 to $86,050.

■ Salary for the director of real property tax services would increase $2,000 to $82,000 annually.

■ The Social Services commissioner salary would increase $1,903 to $78,017.

■ The Veterans Services director salary would increase $1,050 to $43,050.

Several other positions would receive additional compensation for 2021 including county clerk, $5,197; county treasurer, $5,196; Democratic and Republican election commissioners, $1,153.94 each; Board of Supervisors clerk, $5,058.31; highway superintendent, $2,239.71; public defender, $4,396.88; Public Health commissioner, $5,876.61; Real Property Tax Services director, $5,250; Social Services commissioner, $5,049.77; Veterans Services director, $617.40.
