Local WWII Veteran turns 99 today; VFW, law enforcement to host car parade - WHIO

WEST CARROLLTON — Local World War II Veteran Richard Gard is celebrating his 99th birthday today.

To celebrate there will be a birthday car parade around Gards house at the 900 block of Pearhill Drive in West Carrollton starting at 6 p.m..

Joined by the West Carrollton Fire Department and police department, the parade will make two loops around the block, according to a release.

Gard has been awarded the Silver Star Medal, Bronze Star Medal and two Purple Hearts.
