London Staffer at Top Chinese Firm Sanctioned for Multiple Breaches - Law.com

Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal

A staffer at the London office of one of China’s largest law firms has been fined and banned from being a sole practitioner or manager of a law firm for, among several breaches, enabling an unauthorised individual to take control of part of the litigation practice of his previous firm.

The decision relating to a case heard last month by London’s Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal relates to breaches committed by Daniel Cheung—also known as Taut-Yang Cheung—while he was a lawyer in the London office of Hong Kong-based gambling law specialist Maxwell Alves. According to two people with knowledge of the situation, Cheung is currently employed as an administrative assistant by the London office of Chinese major Zhong Lun Law Firm.
