Look: Matt Ryan’s Sister-In-Law Calls Out Report - The Spun

The Atlanta Falcons are suddenly a serious contender to acquire Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans. Doing so would replace Matt Ryan after 14 years under center for the franchise.
On Tuesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said the Falcons “have emerged as a sleeper team” to trade for the Georgia native. Though a grand jury recently declined to press criminal charges, the 26-year-old still faces 22 pending civil suits for sexual assault and misconduct.
The following day, Schefter relayed a report from Chris Mortensen that the Falcons made Ryan aware of their interest in Watson. The two sides reportedly have an open line of communication.
However, Ryan’s sister-in law, Maggie Marshall Ryan, said Mortensen “reported wrong.”
She also liked a few tweets critical of Atlanta pursuing Watson. One was from The Falcoholic’s Matthew Chambers saying the Falcons are “still doing Matt Ryan wrong for this whole mess whether there’s a meeting or not.”
No quarterback has started more games for the same team than Ryan (222), who has only missed three games since getting drafted in 2008. He’s made four Pro Bowls and taken the Falcons to six postseasons, including a Super Bowl appearance to culminate his 2016 MVP campaign.
Although Ryan is past his prime, he tops the franchise’s all-time leaderboard in just about every meaningful passing category (yards, touchdowns, quarterback rating, wins, game-winning drives) with ample room to spare. Discarding him for a man facing multiple sexual accusations could go over poorly.
ESPN’s reporting suggests the Falcons are at least being careful to handle the situation right by Ryan, but his sister-in-law hinted otherwise.
