Macon law firm donates $4K to Bibb County Education Foundation for kids' winter clothes - wgxa.tv
MACON, Ga. -- More Bibb County children will have access to warm winter clothing thanks to a donation from a Macon law firm.
On Thursday, Adams, Jordan & Herrington, P.C., gave $5,000 to the Bibb County Education Foundation.
Of that, $4,000 will be set aside to purchase warm clothing like coats, hats, and long-sleeved shirts for students.
The leftover $1,000 will go towards funding the foundation's operating costs.
Law firm partner Virgil Adams acknowledged some of the good things happening in Macon-Bibb, such as the Brookdale Resource Center.
But he said the firm wanted to pay particular attention to helping school-aged children in the county this winter.
"We were concerned about those school kids who might not have the necessary clothing like coats, long-sleeved shirts, for the winter," he said.
The law firm presented the check to the school district Thursday afternoon at the school board complex.
Dr. Laurie Rodgers, Assistant Superintendent of District Effectiveness and Federal Programs, said the donation will be part of other efforts to keep students warm this winter.
"We are so appreciative of such a donation," said Dr. Rodgers.
Adams said it's the firm's first time donating to the Bibb County Education Foundation, but they don't plan on it being their last.

The Bibb County Education Foundation was established in May 2021. It's a nonprofit organization that works to support the personal and educational goals of students and staff.
