Man arrested for impersonating law enforcement in Chico - Action News Now
CHICO, Calif. - Robert Holtz, 59, of Chico was arrested Thursday at around 9 a.m. for impersonating law enforcement, according to the Chico Police Department.
Chico Police received 911 callers reporting that a driver in a small compact car in the area of Skyway/E. Park Ave. and MLK Blvd was using red and blue lights to get drivers to pull over.
The unsuspecting drivers would pull over, believing that the lights belonged to law enforcement, only to have the suspect drive past the pulled over cars.
Officers responded to the area and located a car matching the description at the Costco gas station on MLK Blvd. Holtz was contacted by police and he ultimately admitted to using red and blue lights installed in his headlights to go around other drivers.
The lights, determined to be a recently installed aftermarket product, were removed from the car and taken as evidence. Holtz’s car was towed from where he was arrested.
Holtz was booked into the Butte County Jail.
