A man is spending his days helping to clear debris from his father-in-law's machine shop in Dawson Springs after he died in the tornado.
Ernie, a machinist in Dawson Springs, was one of the 14 victims to die in Friday night's tornado.
Now, his son-in-law, Tim Cobel, is trying to help clear all the debris, even if it means working through the rain.
"They found him over by the Legion -- a place that he frequented often," Cobel said. "They actually found his shoes on the dance floor."
Cobel and former workers at the shop are out at the property from daylight until dark clearning cinder blocks.
"We’ve made a lot of progress," Cobel said. "The last thing is getting all these blocks in a pile and then hopefully FEMA will come through and pick everything up."
Not even a block away, electrical crews are working to clear transformers from the only medical facility in Dawson Springs, which was destroyed by the tornado.
While a demolition crew sorts through piles of debris.
"You don’t know when it’s going to start raining again so we’re trying to do what we can do to be safe," said Danny Cope, who owns his own demolition company.
While crews still work to identify all those people still still unaccounted for, Cobel says his father-in-law-is at peace.
“It was good to find him and not be like a lot of other people who they are still searching for," he said.
