Man Shot by Law Enforcement Officers in Sabetha | Kansas News | US News - U.S. News & World Report
SABETHA, Kan. (AP) — A 38-year-old man was shot and critically injured by law enforcement officers after he fired nails at them from a nail gun, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation said.
The shooting happened Wednesday night in the northeast Kansas town of Sabetha after Sabetha police and Nemaha County Sheriff's officers responded to a call about a possibly suicidal individual.
While officers tried to persuade Kelly J. Hall to leave the home, they heard several pops coming from inside, the KBI said.
Hall eventually stepped outside with an air-powered nail gun. He refused orders to drop the gun and began firing nails toward officers, the KBI said.
A Nemaha County Sheriff's deputy and a Sabetha police officer fired at Hall, striking him.
Hall was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital n Topeka where he was listed in critical but stable condition Thursday.
