Marquette law student makes history as Miss Milwaukee 2022 - Spectrum News 1
MILWAUKEE— A Milwaukee woman is making history as she is the first Black woman to win the Miss Milwaukee crown.
Jada Monet Davis, 23, is currently a law student at Marquette University and an entrepreneur.
Davis was selected as Miss Milwaukee 2022 on March 19 during the first-ever virtual online competition.
“Just to be able to have a part of history be a part of my life, and to do it during Women’s History Month, is super special,” said Davis.
As someone new to the pageant world, she said this is a big accomplishment for her. The 2022 Miss Milwaukee pageant was just her second competition.
She’s hoping to move on to become a lawyer in the entertainment industry in the future. She also wants to further pursue her dance career.
Her main goal is to always serve as a role-model to others and continue a positive path forward.
“Just to continue with my initiative and building the confidence of other young women in our city is something that I’m looking forward to,” said Davis.
It is worth nothing, another contestant, Lora Rene Davis, (no relation), was the first Black woman to hold the Miss Milwaukee crown by assuming a runner up title in 1981.
Miss Wisconsin starts June 14 in Oshkosh. If Jada Monet Davis wins the state crown, she would become the first-ever Black woman to be, selected, chosen, voted, or assumed the Miss Wisconsin crown.
