An automotive trade group and Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey expressed conflicting opinions about the impact of a related case on litigation challenging the state’s data access law.
The law, which requires automakers to provide more data to consumers and third-party repair shops, was approved by Massachusetts voters in November 2020. It’s being challenged by the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, a trade group that represents Subaru of America Inc., General Motors Co., and Ford Motor Co.
