COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKEF) -- A Miami Township detective was among the law enforcement officers honored today during a state conference.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost recognized several public safety officers and one civilian, including Detective Todd Comer of the Miami Township Police Department. He received the Mark Losey Distinguished Law Enforcement Service Award.

According to Yost's office, Comer has served Miami Township in Montgomery County since 1988 and has become a "go-to" investigator for intense homicide, child abuse and sex assault cases.

"His meticulous approach and dedication result in justice served, as well as a respected reputation," Yost wrote in a statement.

Comer also volunteers for the Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Dayton Victory Project.

"The detective provided monthly meals, with no regard for the personal cost, to 50 or so teens, and he stayed after eating to mentor them," the statement reads. "These young men respected Detective Comer because he earned the right to be heard, and they listened."
