COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The Lexington Police Department is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) for Nation Prescription Drug Take Back day.
On Saturday, April 30, 2022 the department, the DEA and the Lexington Richland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council (LRADAC) are teaming up to help get unused prescription drugs out of circulation.
Participants can drop off discarded drugs at the Walgreens on 5220 Sunset Blvd with officers at the location. The drop off runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All drugs will collected will be turned over to the DEA for disposal. Organizers said syringes will not be accepted for disposal.
Chief Terrence Green said, “National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is the perfect opportunity to take a few minutes to clean your medicine cabinet to ensure that these dangerous drugs are disposed of safely and are kept out of the hands of those who would abuse them.”
The Lexington Police Department has a permanent CVS Drug Collection Unit at 111 Maiden Lane which can be used during normal business hours. More information about the day can be found at the link here.
