Rochester, N.Y. — Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley is defending her plea deal with Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren.

Included in her weekly newsletter, Doorley says she stands by her plea and believes it is appropriate given the charges.

"The end result is that Lovely Warren will no longer be our Mayor and will not serve out the entirety of her term. She broke the law. She acknowledged her guilt. She resigned because of her actions. It is time for the community to move forward to promote a safe, healthy and ethical Rochester, and I look forward to being a part of the solution," Doorley said.

On Monday Oct. 4 Mayor Warren agreed to resign shortly before her term ends as part of a deal to settle charges she violated regarding campaign finance rules during her 2017 re-election campaign.
