Multiple Middle Georgia sheriff's office get share of $5.6M law enforcement grants - wgxa.tv

CRISP COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) -- The Governor's Office has announced millions of dollars in Law Enforcement Training Grants to be distributed across the state -- including in Middle Georgia.
Sheriff's offices for Crisp, Telfair, and Twiggs counties are all getting a share of the funds.
The Crisp County Sheriff's Office is getting $69,400, the Telfair County Sheriff's Office is receiving $81,871, and the Twiggs County Sheriff's Office has been granted $37,873.
The total for all grants being distributed statewide is $5.6 million.
Crisp County is using its funds for an Apex Officer Training Simulator, which offers interactive, hands-on training that uses specific scenario-based examples.
The sheriff's office wants the simulator to give deputies knowledge and skills but also the confidence to safely get through real-world situations.
They say they plan to share the simulator with surrounding agencies.
“We are grateful to be selected for this grant as this funding will help provide training resources at no cost to our taxpayers” stated Sheriff Billy Hancock
