Dads on a Mission: A group of fathers want to help curb violence in DMPS schools

DES MOINES, Iowa - Fed up with the number of fights at Des Moines Public School District, fathers are starting a new initiative called Dads on a Mission.

"Even though my son is not a risk, he could be at risk because of other kids that are at risk. So I feel like I have to be a dad to all of them," said the initiative's founder Lance Williams Sr.

Senators Warren, Booker test positive for breakthrough COVID

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sens. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Cory Booker of New Jersey say they have tested positive for COVID-19, as the country deals with another surge in cases and the emergence of the omicron variant.

In separate statements Sunday, the Democrats said they had been fully vaccinated with two doses and a booster and their symptoms were mild. They also encouraged others to get the trio of shots if eligible.

Owners of restaurant within historic Des Moines Fire Headquarters plan to buy the building

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The former Des Moines Fire Headquarters has stayed on the market for months, but a group familiar with the building now has big plans for the property.

Todd Millang and Paul Rottenberg have made a $2.3 million offer for the building on 9th and Mulberry, according to city council documents. The two are responsible for Malo, the restaurant which is located within the art-deco landmark.
