Nationally recognized UH Mānoa law student talks passion for public service, mental health advocacy - Hawaiipublicradio

University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa law student Meleana "Mana" Shim received national recognition recently. The Richardson student was chosen from among 200 schools nationwide as one of National Jurist magazine’s 2022 "Law Students of the Year." The honor recognizes talented, exceptional law students with a dedication to their community.
Shim is in the third year of her studies and is a retired professional soccer player committed to activism, mental health and public service. She spoke with The Conversation about how her Native Hawaiian ancestry frames her passion for public service and mental health advocacy.
