New Scoring Tool Assesses Outside Law Firms' DEI Efforts | Corporate Counsel - Law.com

What You Need to Know
- The scoring system looks at law firm demographics, recruitment, retention and attrition, and promotions for minorities.
- The MCCA will name the five large law firms that received the highest scores as calculated from the scorecard.
- To create the scorecard, the MCCA drew on 14 years of data from an annual diversity survey.
The Minority Corporate Counsel Association introduced Monday a new tool to help companies assess the diversity efforts of their outside law firms and help those firms improve their performance.
Dubbed the “diversity scorecard,” the ranking assesses how a law firm is performing in four categories: demographics; recruitment; retention and attrition; and promotions for women and diverse groups, especially those from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds.
