New York State commits to bolstering women in law enforcement - 13WHAM-TV

Albany, N.Y. — Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Wednesday that New York State Police have joined more than 150 other police departments in signing the "30x30 Pledge".

The central goal of the commitment is to increase the percentage of female recruits to 30 percent by 2030 and improve the experiences of women in law enforcement.

By signing to the pledge, State Police have agreed to:

Increase representation of female officers in all ranks of law enforcement

Ensure that policies and procedures are free if bias

Promote fair hiring and promotion of female officers

Create a culture that inclusive, respectful, and supportive of women in all ranks and roles of law enforcement.

Currently, women only make up about 12 percent of sworn members, and only 11.6 percent of females make up troopers on the State Police force.
