Aretta Gallegos’s son-in-law woke her up in the middle of the night last April 14, panicking because Gallegos’ daughter, Brianna Mullins, was unconscious. Gallegos rushed down the hall to find Mullins cold to the touch and unmoving, save for the blood leaking from her nose and mouth.

First responders from Northglenn showed up a little later, confirming on scene what Gallegos could tell for herself: . . .
