Orioles' Adley Rutschman, Royals' Bobby Witt Jr. lead Keith Law's list of 2022's top 100 MLB prospects - The Athletic

The top two picks in the 2019 MLB Draft are again Nos. 1 and 2. Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman and Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. enter 2022 as the top two prospects in baseball, according to The Athletic's Keith Law.

Rutschman moved from No. 7 a year ago to the top spot after batting .285 with 23 home runs and a .899 OPS in 123 games split between Double-A Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk. Rutschman, who will turn 24 on Feb. 6, is a switch hitter and a strong defensive catcher and had nearly as many walks (79) as strikeouts (90) last season.

Witt, who turns 22 in June, was the first high school player drafted in 2019 and flashed his potential in 2021, slashing .290/.361/.576 with 33 home runs and 29 steals in 123 games at Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha. Witt had just 37 games of pro experience entering the season.

"They both belong in the majors now and both have MVP-level upside," Law writes of Rutschman and Witt.
