OU Law to honor 5 graduates at ceremony - Journal Record
NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma College of Law will honor five outstanding alumni Feb. 2 at its annual Order of the Owl Hall of Fame Ceremony. The Order of the Owl recognizes OU Law graduates who demonstrate leadership and service through outstanding accomplishments in their legal careers.
This year’s Order of the Owl honorees are:
• Joi Gordon, CEO for Dress for Success and advocate for empowering women in their economic and social development.
• V. Burns Hargis, who became the 18th president of Oklahoma State University following a long business and legal career.
• Frank Keating, whose 30-year career in law enforcement and public service includes membership on the OU Board of Regents and two terms as governor of Oklahoma.
• James E. Sharp, who has represented high-visibility issues during his five decades in the legal field, such as the Watergate scandal.
This year’s ceremony also will introduce the inaugural presentation of the Order of the Parliamentarian, an award that recognizes more recent OU Law graduates for distinguished accomplishments in the first 20 years of their legal career.
The recipient of this year’s Order of the Parliamentarian is Jane Teixeira, accomplished athlete, PacWest administrator and advocate for student-athlete mentorship.
Since its establishment in 2011, the Order of the Owl has inducted 28 OU Law alumni.
