Pay Keeps Rising, the Virus Keeps Spreading and Other New Normals - Law.com

The lines in front of the COVID-19 testing center near my home in New York City wind around the block. New York and London are seeing spikes in positive cases and the omicron variant of the novel coronavirus is spreading around the world, putting hospitals near capacity, prompting countries to tighten their borders and disrupting travel plans right before the holiday season. It seems like we’ve been here before. It’s beginning to look like 2020 all over again.

But if there’s one thing we’ve learned about the legal industry in the past two years, it’s that it is resilient. We told you many stories this past year about seismic changes affecting the industry, some of which you can read again here. What’s clear is that unpredictability has forced law firms to learn how to be nimble. They learned to adapt to changing circumstances and alter the way they operate faster and more effectively than ever before.
