Pelosi, Frankel and others speak on infrastructure law in Delray Beach - WPTV News Channel 5 West Palm
DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi joined U.S. Rep. Lois Frankel, Assistant Speaker of the House Katherine Clark and U.S. Reps. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick and Frederica Wilson at a news conference Saturday morning from the George Bush Boulevard Bridge in Delray Beach.
The bridge has been stuck open since early March.
Pelosi and the other Democratic speakers discussed the bipartisan infrastructure law.
"What are bridges but to connect us — to connect us — and when that connection comes down, it affects so many people," Pelosi said.
The bridge repairs will be funded as part of the bipartisan infrastructure law.
"This legislation is building infrastructure with equity and with justice," Pelosi said.
Mayor Shelly Petrolia also spoke, lamenting the extended closure of the George Bush Boulevard Bridge.
"Bridges provide the lifeline to our health, our safety and our welfare in our city and other cities just like ours," she said.
