ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- A Pensacola man is charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer in Escambia County.

Anthony Sturdivant, 38 is being held in Escambia County Jail on $6,000 bond.

The incident happened on Sunday at 49th Ave. and Birch Street in Escambia County.

The report states a caller said he spotted Sturdivant -- a previous battery suspect against a family member who was also presenting himself as a law enforcement officer.

According to the report, upon arrival, deputies located Sturdivant with:

  • a homemade duty belt around his waist
  • a flashlight holder with a flashlight
  • a cell phone with a police scanner app
  • a homemade holder for his cell phone, "which he had on his chest as if he was using it as a radio"
  • a toy gun concealed underneath the belt

The caller told deputies that as he was waiting on deputies to arrive, Sturdivant told him several times he is a Sheriff and the caller should leave the area.

"While transporting Sturdivant, he made spontaneous utterances about how he patrols the neighborhood on a regular basis," the report states.
