Pine Belt law enforcement agencies meet for safety collaboration - WDAM

PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) - With safety as a top priority in the Pine Belt, law enforcement agencies in Forrest County and surrounding counties came together to discuss ways of improving communication between agencies.

Forrest County Sheriff Charlie Sims says this is an important step in opening the communication lines and setting up processes to improve the share of law enforcement data.

“By sharing information, by sharing resources, working together a lot closer, we are going to help the victims of these crimes and get answers or justice for them.” said Sims.

“Sharing statics, sharing what is happening in our jurisdiction, what crimes are we having, what kind of problems are we having, because if we are having those problems, judications next to us are having those problems. And we have to share that information so we are working together as a team, and as a team, we can get a lot more done than as individuals,” said University of Southern Mississippi Police Chief Rusty Keyes.

Sims says they will continue to have these meetings, with each agency taking turns to host it.
